Marten, reindeer and ravens

Which animal would you compare yourself to and why?

I would compare myself to this animal (the marten/mår) because we both love climbing and appreciate being alone sometimes, especially in forests. I kind of look a bit slightly alike in appearance too especially when I had very long hair.

I also love reindeer and ravens. They are local animals like the marten is as well. The reindeer are both cute, funny and very important to our Northern culture. The raven is the symbol of intelligent and curious birds, a bit mystical.

I see reindeer in urban settings when I lived somewhere else and the little ones are very cute and funny. Reindeer are herd animals and sometimes people kind of act like herds. It’s also a part of my Sámi heritage, I value reindeer in cultural ways as well as just reindeer being awesome in themselves.

The raven is not only extremely intelligent, it’s also playfull at times. That is a part of my approach to life as a human being.

So that is my answer today, the animal kingdom is vast and diverse. Sometimes we learn a lot just looking out the window and observe nature as it is.

Where would you go on a shopping spree?

I love going to the health food, supplements and tea shop we have in our town. It’s a chain store but the experience is everything, buying new teas and finding the favourites as well.

They have different supplements, I enjoy New Nordic supplements like for example Hair Volume and Melissa Dream.

So that’s my shopping spree store. I hope your days are good and thanks for reading ❤

I am Ingvild

What is your middle name? Does it carry any special meaning/significance?

Yes, my “middle name” is Ingvild. It means something in Norse that has to do with ancestors and battles. The struggle of my foremothers, protected by Yngvi-Freyr, the fertility god.

More than that it’s a part of my everyday life, I like names. I have several. More. My mother nearly named me something different and I changed it. Not telling a word about my former name, what would the point be to that? Sorry, I’m not in my right mind at the moment. And I’m not telling you.

And yes, I’m not drunk. I’m overtired and I want a couple cans of cider with Battery Peachberry along them.

Thank you for reading and stay well, as good as it gets in this profoundly scary madness world.

It’s not really about the question, it’s the answer

What is one question you hate to be asked? Explain.

Warning/note: rambling today

The question is ‘who is your father?’ and I hate to be asked this by certain people because the answer is complicated and potentially dangerous. That sounds really dramatic but the truth is real, I hate this question for a good reason. I don’t really know my father well, and the Darkness inside is taking over when the light disappears from behind the scenes. Okay so, yeah.. my father is truly my biological father, we are both DNA-tested and share 50% DNA. I hate to be asked by people who might react if I tell them the truth, they might remember the boy the others targeted for being different. It involved serious violence toward him, sometimes it makes me wonder what’s wrong with the world that let this terrible thing happen to an innocent child.

I also hate being asked what I do for a living because people expect I’m in school or in the workplace but I’m disabled and that’s how it is. Life is good no matter what you do in daily work or learning, disabled people matter just as much even without employment or the advanced education.

So those are some things where the answers are complex and not easy in social situations to answer in both honesty and also self-respect for family and disability.

The dark times before the light

What experiences in life helped you grow the most?

The moving places often in childhood and teenage years, learning the history behind me and the path forward.

Knowing my history from before I was born and the way experiences travel through several generations has given me more resilience and shaped my view of myself.

Yes, I’ve had hard times. And they got me to where I am now, I would not have been the person I am without facing them with both determination and a refusal of letting it break my fighter spirits.

And the environment around me plays a major part really, nature affects all of us especially those living in extremes of light like the Arctic regions. Cold winters really speak clearly.

And that’s part of what helped me grow the most.

Thank you for reading and I hope your days are good ❤

Early in the morning

Describe a phase in life that was difficult to say goodbye to.

Early twenties definitively. I had a lot more going on then, on holidays and frequently saw health care professionals and friends in family. Now I do wish I had cherished and seen how important they were. Now turning 33 this year I’m hoping the rest of my thirties will go the right way.

Mickey Finn

What is your favorite drink?

Yeah, the medium level alcohol-containing beverage I buy rarely at Vinmonopolet. I also enjoy Bacardi Razz, but that one is very strong. I’m used to drinking regular cider and the Razz is a different animal entirely.

I also more regularly enjoy tea, iced tea, lactose-free iced coffee, lactose-free oreo shake and Battery energy drinks. Those are everyday luxuries I indulge on without guilt.

And of course I love water as it is, nothing beats that when you are thirsty enough. With some ice cubes and a slice of lemon it is simple magic.

Winter wonderland boots

Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes, and where they’ve taken you.

These are my favourite pairs of winter season shoes. They have taken me to winter destinations and will keep doing so for years to come.

They are from Topaz brand and they are made from seal hide and inside is wool.

High boots are called Amundsen, shorter boots are called Sami.

They are so worth it. They are not cheap shoes, they are quality-priced. But I paid and I’m rewarded every time.

Social rules

Have you ever unintentionally broken the law?

I don’t follow usual Norwegian social rules. I don’t try to mask my neurodivergent functioning so it could look to others as if I’m not following any rules. But I most definitively do, it’s just acted in a different way.

As I said on my other blogs I have had to exit a car in frozen winter to relieve my bladder by the road. Mostly out in the middle of nowhere with very few cars passing by, but it’s likely against legal law even in my country. It’s still preferably to the event of peeing my pants in a car.

Thanks for entering my world ❤

Northern experience

Are you patriotic? What does being patriotic mean to you?

Yes, I’m deeply patriotic. In a way that values our diversity and cultural features in any ethnicity. I had refugees as best friends growing up and that has profoundly important effects on my relationship with belonging and my country.

I’m from Norway as I may have mentioned before and I’m in my 30s now. I love living here. I love the culture influenced by several different languages including Sámi and Kven as well as the Northern Norwegian. I’m a quarter Southern Scandinavian as well, I love Agder county both in nature and the people living there.

In general it’s more about values and nature to me, not excluding anyone based on their origins or language. I love Norway and I always will.

Eternal students of life

What were your parents doing at your age?

My mother was a student single mother of two, my father was drifting in addiction and absence. But both were eternal students of life, only in different forms.

I may not know my father well, but I care very deeply about his well-being and history. My mother is my daily contact with the rest of the offline world, I’m very grateful we are so close.

So the main message is to enjoy what you actually have in the moment, not focus on the things missing or not yet there.

My Home, today

Write about your dream home.

I was visiting my grandmother yesterday and her living room area is really large compared to mine, it’s room for everyone at Christmas Eve dinner and gift opening event. We were eating pinnekjøtt and potatoes together all four of us. She has a large physical television set and we were watching biathlon on it, and Norway won gold and bronze medals this time. It’s the Winter sports Olympic games now in Italy.

Okay so, back to my dream home. I would love a larger living room and really nice practical bathroom solution. I want room for all the important stuff and still no excessive decorations. I like it cozy but knowing the place for every item when it’s tidy.

Also the kitchen would have more room for movement allowed easily. I should add I would always like living exactly where I actually live right now, our view is priceless and it’s close to local grocery store so we walk there easily every day if needed.

Yeah, that’s my dream home. Just my current home with some adjustments to it, inproving what needs update and making it extremely practical as well as beautiful.

Feel it

You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?

Well, the first thing is to get them in some form. Then the response is to feel it through. After that it depends on the situation what I actually do. But usually I share it with someone relevant to the information/news. I don’t share with entire world something that belongs in one conversation.

That’s my perspective this day, I hope your days are good ❤

Not much, but some

Are there any activities or hobbies you’ve outgrown or lost interest in over time?

As I mention on my other blog the radio is a part of my childhood and youth years that isn’t the same interesting place it used to be. I’m different now and the radio went in it’s own direction along with the years.

I used to be very interested in cosmetic make-up but I don’t feel it’s as worth it now, it’s only on very rare occations I wear mascara or colour eye shadows.

But most of my real interests are still strong over time, even when I don’t act on all of them today. One of my favourite activities is family research along with a cup of warm tea and wool blankets, it’s special and I treat it with care.

Vepsebol

What’s your favorite candy?

Oh yes, vepsebol. It’s this small round pink sweet strawberry thing with fire inside. Kind of like a real wasp’s nest!

I like Haribo Peach, Laban seigmenn and sour candy type things as well. I love chocolate.

But I’m really more of a sweet flavour beverages person, it’s difficult for me to be without them. Even the pear cider can be a part of my daily life, especially in Sámi summer seasons (giđđageassi, geassi, čakčageassi) I have a couple the Midnight sun madness. Okay rambling off-topic, done.

Not over yet

Do you need a break? From what?

I cannot complain much, I live far North in Norway so it’s winter when it’s winter and it lasts most of the year. Sometimes it’s very cold, but little snow. Other times it’s very heavy snowfall. The times it’s warm however are the hardest, mixed snow and rain isn’t that awesome winter wonderland feeling we are blessed with.

Yeah, so it’s winter but not everything about it. Far from it. It’s wonderful and annoying at same time, and we have the most beautiful skies now, the sun low in the sky above the mountains.

And the world is chaos, this is our type luxury problem really. So I’ve had a wish to have a break from the bad news and horrors of our times.

iPod

The most important invention in your lifetime is…

The nature of immersive listening.

I have an old iPod touch and I use it nearly every day for listening to music. I have earphones so I can be immersive in the sound, alone or while passenger in the car on road trips or long travel errands. It’s important to me on several levels and I’m thankful for the technology and function of modern world.

And yes, it’s both EDM and metal genres. I love music.

Power of will

How do significant life events or the passage of time influence your perspective on life?

Want to know? It’s about staying power. To keep moving forward no matter what they say.

I’ve experienced a lot of different life events, and some really have long-term effects. I don’t have paid employment and I have no children. I need medication to function at all.

The important thing is to believe in your own power. Don’t let others rule your life, stand tall even if you get knockout envy or someone wants to bring you down.

The dark lord perished. Yes, I’ve read the books.

Thank you for listening and happy February

Fix my coat

Something on your “to-do list” that never gets done.

Yes, I have a great winter coat that’s broken. The zip broke and I cannot close it at all. But I want to use it, I don’t want a new coat because this is a great winter season clothing both warm and quite nice looking. It’s black colour, down jacket and somewhat long length. But yeah, the zip broke and I haven’t fixed it. It needs expert help.

I have another jacket but it’s not nearly as warm. In -20°C it’s completely necessary to have a real winter coat. I think we are done with the coldest winter days but weather is temperamental. Yes, pun intended.
